- How To Fit A Roller Blind
- List of Best Nautical & Sea Themed Window Roller Blinds
In this article, we look at nautical and sea themed window roller blinds. If you have an ocean inspired home, having a nautical themed or sea view roller blind will bring ocean vibes in to your home on an evening when they are closed and rolled down.
We love having roller blinds in our house because they are neater than curtains, fit in to tight spaces where a curtain would drape too near to furniture or be blocked and you can move them up and down and leave at a height you require.
The last feature of a roller blind is one of our fave features, as we have a south facing house, we can fit them and pull them down a certain distance to stop the sun blinding us when sat in our office, but not too low to stop light coming in and seeing outside.
Another reason for choosing roller blinds over curtains is that living in a small home, we find it hard to fit curtains over the windows. There are also much less parts to a roller blind and there is no need to fit a larger window curtain pole for curtains if that was your other choice.
How To Fit A Roller Blind
With most of the roller blinds we have taken a look at, you can either buy them at the size you need or your can cut them to fit when you are installing them. This is a simple process, if you haven’t done it before, not to worry, with a few simple tools you can install a window roller blind quite quickly.
A few things to remember when fitting a roller blind.
- If you have double or triple glazed window with a handle, fit your roller blind so that it doesn’t hit the handle as you roll it down
- When measuring the width of your window to cut your roller blind, make sure you take in to account the fittings that are fixed to the sides of your window alcove as this will make the overall width of your roller blind less
- Try not to let the roller pull cord come free from the fitting that rolls the blind up and down, these are very hard to refit and take quite a bit of force
Tools You Will Need
Luckily not that many and you should have these lying around.
- A mini hacksaw for the metal tube that the roller blind rolls around, this can also cut the weight at the bottom of the blind too
- Tape measure to work out the width of your window and to help with cutting the blind
- Pencil to mark the blind material
- Scissors to cut the blind material
